    A Commerce-background student of Our Lady Queen of the Missions School, Tamanna Sinha joined Undergraduate Course in Department of Economics, Jadavpur University in year 2004 and successfully post-graduated in year 2009 with specialization in Financial Economics, Econometrics and Development Economics. During this five-year tenure, she conducted diverse research work under supervision of Department’s Professors in different disciplines of the subject as a part of course-work and out of interest.

    In July 2009, she joined Global Change Programme (GCP) and as an intern worked in the Project named “Strategies for Low Carbon Growth In India: Industry and Non Residential Sectors”Later in 2010 -2011, she worked as a Research Assistant under direct supervision of Prof. Joyashree Roy on varied issues related to Environmental Economics and Sustainable Development.

    In July 2011, she joined Institute of Development Studies Kolkata as a Research Associate in ILO funded project on Return Migration of Skilled Workforce in India; and in May 2012, re-joined GCP as a Research Associate to work on APN funded project on Coastal Ecosystem Development. 

    Finally, in July 2012, she got selected by UPSC in Indian Economic Service with All India Rank being Number 1 and joined service in September 2012. Currently posted as Assistant Director in Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, she is handling matters related to Financial Markets with emphasis on Foreign Portfolio Investments, External Commercial Borrowings, Foreign Exchange Management Act, Currency Derivatives, Depository Receipts, etc.
