Chandan Roy worked with Global Change Programme, Jadavpur University (GCP-JU) from March 2008 to February 2012 as a Research Associate. He worked on different projects such as ‘Adaptation in case of Inundation of Islands: An Exploratory Study from Indian Sundarbans’ (2008-2009), ‘Socio-Economic Study of Street Vending in Kolkata’ (2009-2011) etc. under Global Change Programme (GCP) for quite some time.
He has completed his M.Phil degree from the Department of Economics, Jadavpur University, Kolkata. He did his B.Sc degree from Midnapore College and M.Sc degree from Vidyasagar University. His research interests revolve around the area of sustainable rural development, environment, poverty, livelihood and food security.
Currently he is a Doctoral Fellow in the Department of Economics, Jadavpur University. He is working on ‘Sustainable Rural Development: A Policy Study of Indian Sundarbans’. His research seeks to understand the adaptation needs of the people living in the islands surrounding the reserved forest in Indian Sundarbans and offer policy recommendations for promoting their sustainable economic development.
